DIY Sauna

For illustration purposes we have detailed the construction of a 1.5m x 1.5m 2.1m high domestic sauna.

In this illustration we have lined the cabin in traditional sauna spruce timber. If your preference is for a different finish, the outside of the unit can simply be lined in standard timber or plasterboard or even tiled to match your bathroom.

Please see our "Sauna Equipment" section for pricing on the main items required for this installation.

If you would like us to quantify the materials required for your sauna, please email a plan of you proposed sauna. Let us know if you intend to line the outside of your cabin. We will email you list of your required materials, which can then be purchased using our online service, at your convenience.

Points to note:

A 1 m section of sauna wall requires 12 lengths of panelling timber.
A standard upper bench requires 5 lengths of obeche
A standard lower bench requires 4 lengths of obeche
Remember to include for your ceiling.

At Eagle Leisure we offer only quality Scandinavian timber. Sauna timber should carry a maximum of 9% moisture content and is not readily available from standard timber merchants or DIY stores. Ordinary timber will almost certainly shrink and warp when subjected to high temperatures and will undoubtedly reduce the value of your investment.

If you require a free site survey, or wish to speak to someone, please give us a call.
